Rocky in Riverside, CA – Available Soon

Rocky is a wonderful 2.5yo, 45lb guy who has been in 4 different homes in his young life. Rocky’s second owner placed him with relatives after his male Bull Terrier kept attacking Rocky. Rocky wasn’t getting enough exercise and attention in that home so he was placed with friends. Unfortunately, he got out from that home and was hit by a car. His second owner took him back in and paid for extensive surgery on Rocky’s leg. The rod from Rocky’s leg will be removed on May 17. We are now looking for the fifth and final home for this sweet boy. He is great with children of all ages (including a newborn) and is best with submissive dogs as he will now get defensive if another dog gets testy with him. He has been great with a roommate’s cat. Rocky is crate and house trained but needs some work on a leash as he can pull during a walk.

Maverick – Gilroy, CA – Foster Home Needed

Maverick – Gilroy, CA – Foster Home Needed
We can’t help but to try to squeeze this little guy in our program. Maverick’s owner’s sudden and numerous family emergencies have left her caring for several older relatives on an almost full-time basis. She is unable to bring Maverick with her as he can be an energetic bull in a china shop. Maverick is a sweet, cuddly and playful 7mo guy who hasn’t been around with children nor dogs very much but he’s been polite to them when he sees them on walks. He tried to play with cranky Chihuahuas and didn’t mind when they tried to bite his legs off. The resident grumpy senior cat swats at him and he just takes off. This cutie is crate and leash trained (might pull in the beginning due to excitement) and will need a refresher on house training. I’m hoping for a foster/foster-to-adopt home for this goofy young lad. More current pictures are on their way. Kopi – Visalia, CA – – Foster/Foster-to-Adopt Home Needed

Kopi NameKopi is entering our program as his owner had to unexpectedly relocate due to work and could not take Zena and Kopi with her.  This sensitive 1yo guy is very playful, and can be initially shy/nervous around strangers until he gets to know them.  Per the owner surrender form, he is good with children, cats and other dogs.  Both have been wonderful in the shelter playgroups.  Kopi is crate trained but will likely need a refresher in house and leash manners.  Kopi may guard his food and toys; the shelter staff has been able to take away his food bowl and toys without any issues but he could be subdued in a shelter environment.  If your information is not yet on file, please complete our online application: http\://www.bullterrierrescue.org/?page_id=572. Please contact Suz at suz@bullyhaven.org or 415-672-7391 if you have any questions about this sensitive guy.

Sancho – San Jose, CA

Sancho NameSancho is a high energy 19 month guy who needs more activities than working parents with a toddler can give him. He is very social with dogs of all sizes but tend to annoy them with his exuberance to play. He does challenge the toddler so he’ll need a home with no or older children. Sancho likes to chase the cat that hangs around his front yard but we’re not sure what will happen if he ever caught up to it. This 65lb guy is crate, leash and obedience trained. If you’re looking for a happy, fun and active guy, Sancho is the one for you. If your information is not yet on file, please complete our online application: http\://www.bullterrierrescue.org/?page_id=572. If you have any questions about Sancho, please contact Suz at suz@bullyhaven.org or 415-672-7391.  Thanks!

Zuko – Las Vegas, NV – Foster Home Urgently Needed

ZukoPoor Zuko just can’t catch a break. His awesome foster dad had to leave for California immediately after a family emergency. His stay in California will be extended and he cannot bring Zuko with him as he’ll be caring for his father and have extended work hours in the family business. We have him back with his former interim fosterer but she can only hold for a week due to work constraints. Zuko will need an experienced and confident fosterer who will maintain the much needed structure, leadership and boundaries that he’s been thriving on the past few weeks. He is dominant and will resource guard his favored person so a strong, confident but loving leader who won’t be hesitant about giving him much needed structure is a must. He is good with other dogs but on a limited basis as he can become overstimulated during play. Zuko is 1.5 years old and about 52lbs. Our paws are crossed for this challenging little fellow. If your information is not yet on file, please complete our online application: http://www.bullterrierrescue.org/?page_id=572. An overview of our adoption process can be found here: http://www.bullterrierrescue.org/?page_id=3096.

Shorty – Seaside, CA

ShortyShorty is an awesome 1.5yo guy who was likely born with a spinal issue that was not discovered nor treated when he lost the use of his hind legs about 8 months ago. Once he arrived in rescue, he started physical, laser and water therapy to strengthen the muscles in his hind legs. He buzzes around in his donated wheelchair (thank you, Jodi Morimoto!). Shorty is about 45 to 50lbs…he is the sweetest guy who isn’t letting a slight disability stop his partying ways. His playstyle is rough so he is good with larger dogs on a limited basis (he gets overstimulated). He might be good with cats as their company seem to relax him a bit. Please stay tuned for news on this most wonderful guy! If you’re interested in fostering or adopting this playful and active guy, please complete our application (http://www.bullterrierrescue.org/?page_id=572).  Please contact Suz at suz@bullyhaven.org or 415-672-7391 if you have any questions about this sweet guy.

Larry – Sebastopol, CA

Not Curly nor Moe but Larry! Larry and the other male Bull Terrier in the family are getting into dominance related scuffles. This goofy and active guy is about 2 years old; and he’s great with children, female dogs, and the resident cat (they love playing together!). His family is in 4H so Larry also has been good with chickens and livestock. This 55lb guy is house, leash and crate trained. He is a world-class cuddled!  His situation is urgent as the other male (his father) recently broke out his crate and went after poor Larry.  An interim spot is being sought while we check out some potential homes. If your information is not yet on file, please complete our online application (http://www.bullterrierrescue.org/?page_id=572). Larry

Gonzo – Sacramento, CA

The arrival of a baby proved to be bittersweet for Gonzo’s family. This 7yo guy adores the baby and always brings his toys and gently places them down next to the baby. When the baby developed rashes, it was determined that he was allergic to dogs and cats. Gonzo had to spend his days in the yard and his nights in the garage. He was getting depressed so he would spend a bit of time with relatives and friends but his owner wants him to have a stable schedule and not very people get the nuances of the breed. His best friend is the neighbors English Bull Dog and the 6 and 8yo nieces in his family. He likes to chase the neighborhood cats out of his yard. Gonzo is about 50lbs; and he is obedience, house, crate and leash trained. A foster/foster-to-adopt spot (even an interim one) is needed within the next week as the baby seems to be developing respiratory issues. If your information is not yet on file, please complete online application (http\://www.bullterrierrescue.org/?page_id=572). Please contact Suz at suz@bullyhaven.org or 415-672-7391 if you have any questions about this sweet guy.Gonzo

Duke – Winchester, CA – Foster Home Urgently Needed

Duke is a 7yo, 50lb guy who needs a new home as his owner has taken a job with extended hours; and she is also traveling back and forth between CA and TX to care for her ailing mother. Duke hasn’t really been exposed to other dogs but he did absolutely adore a tiny senior chihuahua and spent three weeks looking for her, howling and mourning when she passed away. He has been fine with the three children in the family who are 7 years old and under. This sweet guy is spends his days outside and goes into a crate in the kitchen to sleep at night. He’ll need a refresher on house training and leash manners. He loves Goughnuts balls and donuts, playing fetch and going on car rides. Does anyone have room to foster/foster-to-adopt this sweet and lovable guy? If your information is not yet on file, please complete our online application: http\://www.bullterrierrescue.org/?page_id=572.Duke Please contact Suz at suz@bullyhaven.org or 415-672-7391 if you have any questions about this sweet girl.
